
As soon as he was approached by officers, the suspect fled on foot in the direction of Esch-sur-Alzette. Thanks to a good description provided by eyewitnesses, the man was later identified on a bus. He was in possession of jewellery and other stolen items. The suspect was taken into custody before being brought before an examining magistrate on Tuesday.
The stolen goods were returned to their owners.
On Monday afternoon, police were able to identify another individual, who was most likely involved in a burglary. At around 4.40pm, police were informed of suspicious persons who had broken into a flat in Rue Floetscherbach in Bürden.
A large-scale search operation was immediately launched. The police helicopter was also despatched. A young man was finally arrested in Michelau. He was carrying many items potentially linked to the recent burglary. The other suspected burglars have not yet been identified. There was also a burglary in an uninhabited house in Michelau. The forensic police were called to the scene. An investigation is underway.
