Residents in Syren are effectively cut off from public transport for the next two weeks. An RTL Radio listener notified the team of the issue, which was later confirmed by following up with the municipality of Weiler-la-Tour.
There are currently two sites of roadworks blocking the bus routes around the village. One is the cycle path linking Syren with Alzingen and Hassel, while the other is repairing sewage pipes on Rue Maeshiel, which links Rue de Hassel with Rue de Dalheim.
Chris Molitor, an engineer technician for the council, says they are actively working with bus operator RGTR to find a solution.
The roadworks are planned to last until 18 September, but teams are hoping to conclude the work by 14 September, in time for school traffic to resume. The municipality says it will keep residents updated if it can come up with a provisional solution ahead of time.
