Luxembourg authorities, in coordination with emergency services, assisted in the evacuation of two patients from Gaza, who arrived in the Grand Duchy on Thursday, 10 April, for medical treatment.

The operation began with the Romanian authorities transporting the patients, each accompanied by a family member, from Gaza to Bucharest Airport. From there, Luxembourg’s Air Ambulance took over, utilising dedicated MEDEVAC flight hours to complete the transfer.

Upon arrival, the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) provided specialised medical transports for the patients. They will now be accommodated under a Red Cross initiative, which includes provisions for psychosocial support.

In a statement, Minister of Health and Social Security Martine Deprez emphasised the humanitarian aspect of the mission: “Behind every evacuation lies a human reality. Through this act of solidarity, Luxembourg is doing its part by welcoming patients whose health has been compromised by the crisis. Offering them access to care means granting them a moment of respite and dignity, in line with our shared humanitarian values.”
