One of the families concerned is the one that lost a child. On Thursday, the parents went to visit a new home in Esch-sur-Alzette. If the deal goes through, it will bring some relief to the parents and their two children, aged 12 and 7.
The second family, consisting of five members, has still not found a new home after the disaster. However, a solution seems to be in sight next week.
As Luxembourg’s property market is completely saturated, the organisations helping the victims have no room for manoeuvre in the event of an emergency. Speaking to our colleagues from RTL Télé, Romain Daubenfeld, the president of the social office of Kayl/Tétange, criticised that many owners are only interested in making as much money as possible from their flats or houses and have no inclination to help others.
Daubenfeld further remarked that it is “incomprehensible” that the public prosecutor’s office still does not have an investigation report nearly three months after the fire.
