At around 4.20am, officers were alerted to a crashed vehicle in the roundabout of the Wolser industrial zone near Bettembourg. However, there was no driver at the scene. A witness told police that the person had left on foot.

After a short search, the motorist was found and given a breath test, which came back positive. As the man later refused to take a blood test at the hospital, his driving licence was confiscated.

Later, at around 5am, police were called to Dudelange, where a heavily intoxicated person was reported in a car parked across a pavement. The check revealed that the woman behind the wheel was well over the limit. Her licence was also withdrawn.

Police also announced the latest official speed checks.
