A police patrol stopped a speeding driver in Ettelbruck on Wednesday evening after the latter was caught at 90 km/h during a speed check. The driver was also found to be over the legal alcohol limit and received a provisional driving ban as a result.

At around 22.00, police received reports of a parked vehicle with its engine still running in Moersdorf. The driver was found unconscious, slumped over the wheel. Officers eventually succeeded in waking the man, who was visibly intoxicated and produced a positive breathalyser test. As a result, he had his licence confiscated and received a provisional driving ban.

Suspected drug dealer arrested

An organised drug operation on Wednesday resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer in the Gare district of Luxembourg City. Police officers observed the man in the act of dealing drugs. A woman who purchased cocaine from the suspect was also arrested as part of the intervention.

The suspected dealer attempted to flee, but was immobilised by officers, who found no fewer than 29 small packets containing drugs in the man’s mouth. A later search yielded around 770 euros in cash and the man’s mobile phone. A clinical investigation was ordered on the suspect, following suspicions of further substances in his stomach.

The public prosecutor ordered the man’s arrest. He was brought before magistrates on Thursday afternoon.
