The industrial action at Lufthansa remains resolute. Following the conclusion of the pilots’ strike on Monday and Tuesday, around 20,000 cabin crew members have now walked out for a two-day strike on Wednesday and Thursday, as negotiations over a new collective agreement on working conditions continue to stall. Hundreds of flights have already been cancelled for Wednesday alone.

The pilots are also set to return to the picket line on Thursday and Friday, with the Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) union announcing fresh strike action after accusing Lufthansa of refusing to move on their demands. All Lufthansa flights departing from German airports will be affected, as will departures operated by subsidiaries Cargo and Cityline. Eurowings will be hit by the pilots’ strike on Thursday only. Flights to a number of Middle Eastern destinations are exempt from the action, including those to Azerbaijan, Egypt, Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Yemen, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The disruption will coincide with Lufthansa’s 100th anniversary on Wednesday with a ceremony at a new hangar in Frankfurt to be attended by Chancellor Merz among others. Union members have gathered outside to protest.

Luxembourg flights affected

Four flights between Findel and Munich have been cancelled on Wednesday as a result of the strike action.
