Callum Wilkinson and Ethan Hodder, from the West Midlands in England, are in Luxembourg for their first ever visit to the country. Nothing particularly unusual in that, you might think. However, they won’t be here for leisure purposes but with the admirable objective of embarking on an epic cross-country journey for charity.
The twenty-year-old students plan to run the length of the Grand Duchy over a period of three days starting this morning, covering a distance of 110km. It’s a novel and noteworthy endeavour that not many can lay claim to.
The kind folk at Today Radio will have bottles of water and some protein bars at the ready because the determined duo will be taking a short break to drop into the Melissa Dalton Show today between 12-2pm, for a live interview. They will reveal more about their mammoth expedition, what their first impressions of Luxembourg are and how you can come out and support them.
The charity they are doing all this for is based in their home region in the UK, called Kaleidoscope Plus Group. The organisation works in the local community to promote and support positive health and wellbeing.
“Growing up, we have both seen people close to us suffer from ill mental health. One in six people report a mental health problem weekly in England. We are both determined, through this daft challenge, to help raise awareness, as well as funds, for an amazing cause. We will probably get cramp every five minutes but that’s part of the fun,” according to the lads.
The friends of 10 years will be running from 26 to 28 March, starting around Rumelange, close to the French border and finishing up on the third day in Schmëtt, in the extreme north of the country.
Their target is to raise £500. Donations can be made on their JustGiving Page.
