For nearly three decades, the travel sector participated in an annual show at the LuxExpo. But the last edition took place in 2020 and is unlikely to return, say travel agencies.

In an interview with Paperjam this week, Fernand Heinisch, representative of the Luxembourg Union of Travel Agencies, explained that participation in a travel fair is no longer worthwhile for exhibitors. In order to cover the entrance fees, which range from €30,000 to €150,000 for stands, an agency would have to sell a large number of package holidays.

As a result, Heinisch says it is unlikely that the annual fair would be reinstated. The “Vakanze-Foire”, which previously took place every January, was made up of 200 exhibitors and last attracted around 30,000 visitors over three days.
