Easter MondayTraditional 'Emaischen' markets return to Luxembourg City and Nospelt
Easter Monday is known to draw Luxembourg's pottery enthusiasts to the traditional 'Emaischen' markets in Nospelt and the capital and this year was no different, as pictures from the 2023 edition reveal.
Visitors of these markets can acquire what is known in the Grand Duchy as ‘Péckvillecher’, bird-shaped whistles made out of ceramic, which when blown make a sound similar to the whistle of a cuckoo.
Although historical records show that the tradition already existed in Luxembourg City during the 19th century, a second market has been organised annually in Nospelt since 1957.
