On Thursday, Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie organised their first garden party with a brand new theme.

As part of the National Day celebrations, the Grand Ducal couple organised the annual garden party. This year, for the first time, Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie invited their guests to the park at Colmar-Berg Castle.

But it is not just the hosts who changed this year.

From 2026, the garden receptions will adopt a new theme. Each year, a "specific area of national life or a category of people whose commitment merits special recognition will be highlighted", according to the monarchy’s website.

Alongside the guests whose commitment is being honoured, "representatives of institutions and key figures in public life" will continue to attend the garden parties. The aim is to enable "people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life to meet and interact", wrote the Grand Ducal Court.

The first of this year’s two garden parties took place on Thursday 25 June, and was dedicated entirely to those who contributed to the preparations and operations for the 2025 succession to the throne. The second garden party, scheduled for Monday 29 June, will focus on young people – a subject of "particular importance" to the Grand Duke. Guests will include young people from the fields of education, sports, culture, scouting, entrepreneurship, community organisations, science, and social affairs.
