According to new figures published by the National Employment Agency (ADEM), the IT sector has the highest number of open positions.

The employment agency maintains a database of open positions. It added another 2,679 vacancies to its database in December, bringing the total number of available roles ot just under 11,000.

The most sought-after occupations by employers are as follows:

  • IT research and development (151 positions)
  • Accounting (126)
  • Secretarial work (100)
  • Credit and banking risk analysis (84)
  • Consulting and project management for information systems (77)
  • Kitchen staff (73)
  • Restaurant service (71)
  • Legal defence and advice (67)
  • Accounting and financial audit and control (58)
  • Driving and short-distance delivery (55)

Unemployment fell compared to 2021

ADEM also released the latest unemployment figures. The number of unemployed fell by 3.9% in December 2022, compared to the same month in 2021.

On a monthly basis, the unemployment rate remained stable in December at 4.8%, compared to 4.9% the preceding month.

15,760 residents were registered with ADEM, the National Employment Agency, as well as 2,695 non-residents, most of whom have reduced working capacity.

The overall figure is 3.9%, or 643, less than the equivalent in December 2021. The number of people registering with ADEM decreased to 2,182 in December 2022, some 78 less than December 2021.

December also saw 87 Ukrainian refugees register with the jobs agency.

However, there was a slight increase in jobseekers in December, compared to November. The figures increased by 7.8%, or 1,138 people, the majority of whom were aged 45 and over.
