MeteoLux has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for all of Luxembourg on Friday evening, with hail, strong winds, and intense local rainfall possible as the country remains under a red heat alert.
The thunderstorm warning will be in force from 6pm until 11.59pm. Gusts could reach 80 km/h, while between 10 and 20 litres of rain per square metre may fall locally within a short period. Hail is also possible.
The warning comes amid an exceptionally prolonged and intense heatwave. Luxembourg has been under a red heat alert since Monday afternoon, with extreme heat stress expected to persist and little relief forecast overnight.
