The driver did not want to stop for an alcohol test and rather decided to try his luck fleeing. The subsequent chase ended with a fatal collision between both police vehicles, which left one officer dead and the other critically injured.
Although the investigation of the scene has been concluded, no trial has yet started. Both the escaping driver and the police officer are however likely to face charges, including homicide and involuntary assault.
The Diekirch prosecution is allegedly looking to charge the policeman in front of the correctional Chamber.
