
Upon the order of the public prosecutor's office, police carried out alcohol checks between Rosport and Echternach during the early hours of Saturday morning. A total of 146 people were asked to take a breathalyser test with one coming back positive. The driver in question had to hand over their licence on the spot.
In Grevenmacher, a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road was reported to police. Officers were able to stop the driver, who almost caused an accident, and confiscated their licence after an alcohol test came back positive.
Police were called in Dudelange because a man threatened to attack people in a café. Once officers arrived on site, the man tried to escape in his car. However, police were able to stop him and quickly discovered that he was not only intoxicated but could also not present a valid driving licence and had a partial driving ban. The public prosecutor's office was informed of the case.
Shortly after midnight, a crashed vehicle with five people inside was reported in the middle of the roundabout in Rambrouch. No one was injured. The driver explained that a wrong driving manoeuvre made him steer the car into the nearby pavement, which in turn destroyed one of the car's tyres. The vehicle's airbags went off and the car was hurled in the middle of the roundabout. Police confiscated the driver's licence, after an alcohol test came back positive.
