The incident occurred on Tuesday, according to information released on Friday. The milk tank originally held 5,000 liters of fresh milk collected from the farm’s cows. The contamination was only discovered when the tanker truck arrived to collect the milk, and the farmer noticed something was wrong.
Joé Bormann, the farmer, was deeply affected by the incident. “This is no longer a joke,” he said in frustration. Because of the water contamination, the entire tank had to be discarded, resulting in an economic loss he estimates to be several thousand euros.
The suspected perpetrator appears to have known exactly what they were doing, and that Bormann would not be present at the farm that morning. Authorities believe this was a targeted act.
In a post on Facebook, Bormann’s partner writes that instead of sabotage, the perpetrator could have talked to the farmer if he had a problem. The police were on the scene and a complaint was filed.
For Joé Bormann, it is not only about the financial damage, but also about the question of whether something like this could happen again.
