Thieves were at work in Hosingen during the night of 4 to 5 April. Among other things, they stole work equipment from three containers at a construction site, as confirmed by the police. A delivery vehicle and a private car outside of the site were also searched.
A photo sent in by a witness shows that the thieves drilled v-shaped holes through the body of the vans in order to gain access to the opening mechanism of the sliding door. The sheet metal was then returned to its original position so as not to attract attention too quickly.
During the same night, three other vans were damaged elsewhere in Hosingen, but their contents were not stolen. One of the vehicles fell prey to the thieves when it was empty, confirmed one of the victims.
According to police, similar incidents have been reported in other parts of the country in recent weeks. The number is believed to be around 80 vans in total, but that has not been confirmed by the police.
