The incident occurred shortly before 4pm on Monday, when an individual entered a shop in Echternach and seized an opportunity to steal money from the till. Upon being confronted, the thief made a swift escape, knocking down a woman who attempted to intervene.
The police launched an investigation, resulting in the apprehension of a suspect in the early hours of Tuesday. Upon search, the individual was found in possession of a small quantity of hashish, along with an undisclosed sum of cash. Both items were promptly seized by authorities.
The suspect has been detained under the orders of the public prosecutor’s office in Diekirch and is slated to appear before an examining magistrate by the end of Tuesday.
