The different parties agreed that the overall situation is difficult because of high energy prices and supply chain issues, but these challenges are not limited to Luxembourg.

The reasons for recent employment layoffs in three companies were described as “very specific.” However, the social partners stressed the importance of retaining these skilled professionals, who are about to lose their jobs, firstly in Luxembourg and secondly at work, or allowing them to retire early.

The National Employment Agency (ADEM) is also looking into ways to re-train workers.

In order to continuously monitor the developments in the industrial sector, the Economic Committee will regularly review the situation at its meetings.
