Germany has decided to once again close schools for 3 weeks in total, starting Wednesday. However, according to Minister Meisch, there are currently no plans for a similar move in the Grand Duchy: “If closing schools early was on the table, I would know about it.”
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, Meisch further conveyed. Over the Christmas break, an evaluation will be performed in order to determine potential actions in specific problem areas: “We want to act according to data, not guts. Nevertheless, it is true that everyone working in education is looking forward to the break. The holidays are important to fight off the growing fatigue over restrictions.”

It remains of upmost priority to keep infection risks as low as possible so that schools can stay open. However, the ministry will also prepare for an eventual worsening of the situation in January.
