The latest reports from the Grand Ducal Police show that officers had to intervene in a number of different cases over the weekend.

The security guards of a Kirchberg shopping mall alerted the police to a man who attempted to steal two laptops from a store early on Saturday afternoon. The man was arrested by order of the prosecutor’s office and presented to an examining magistrate on Sunday.

A con artist managed to steal a phone from an unsuspecting person in Roodt-sur-Syre at midnight on Saturday. The perpetrator first drew his victim into a conversation, after which they found their phone to be missing.

Another thief was caught stealing in a store in Bonnevoie. After the police arrived at the scene, they found that the individual also lacked a residence permit for the Grand Duchy. The man was thus arrested by order of the prosecutor’s office and presented to an examining magistrate.

The police also had to revoke a number of licences for drink driving. One man was stopped on Boulevard Royale at 3.45 am after driving in zigzag. Since his alcohol test came back positive, officers revoked the license, issued a fine, and immobilised the vehicle. Another drink driver caught the attention of the police after crashing into a stationary vehicle in Pétange at 9.00 pm on Saturday. The driver first attempted to flee the scene, but was stopped by a patrol soon after. The man’s license was revoked after a positive alcohol test.

Further cases of drink driving took place in Luxembourg City and in Soleuvre. The latest police reports further indicate that burglaries occurred in Wecker, Cessange, and Strassen. The police have opened investigations in each case.
