HealthThe pandemic has undeniable implications on people's sexual health: Christa Brömmel

On Thursday morning, the coordinator of the National Reference Centre for Affective and Sexual Health (CESAS) was a guest at RTL Radio.

The government's Covid restrictions, as well as the pandemic itself, both have negative implications on the sexual and affective behaviour of people. The reference centre CESAS found that, since the beginning of the outbreak, online activities around sexual and affective encounters have risen. Although this is generally considered a reason for concern, Brömmel emphasised that several safety campaigns have already launched to increase awareness around the dangers of online dating.

Last month, the organisation issued a press release to warn about criminal trends in the digital sphere:

(19 Oct. 2020)Brömmel further underlined that the terminology around child pornography ought to be changed, so that sexual abuse of minors is no longer trivialised. The National Reference Centre for Affective and Sexual Health thus channels its efforts to create a supportive space without prior judgement. From 7 to 11 December, the second "Sensitisation Week" will be organised.
