On Friday morning, text alerts were sent to mobile phone users in several municipalities including Differdange, Pétange, Bascharage, Sanem, Bourscheid, Tandel, Diekirch, Erpeldange, Ettelbruck, Schieren, Colmar-Berg, and Bettendorf.
The first text messages were sent at 9.30am. Only individuals whose mobile devices were connected to a base station within the aforementioned municipalities at the time of the alert received a message stating: “LU-ALERT / ALERTE TEST / NO ACTION REQUIRED / AUCUNE ACTION REQUISE / KEINE HANDLUNG ERFORDERLICH.”
