Luxembourg’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn already warned of the imminent move on Tuesday evening. Earlier this Wednesday, Switzerland confirmed that Luxembourg has been added to the list of countries representing a high risk.
For travelers hailing from Luxembourg, this means that they will have to be quarantined for 10 days and inform local health authorities when arriving in Switzerland. Transiting through Switzerland is still allowed.
Entering Switzerland without self-isolating is only possible if you can prove that you have an essential reason for crossing the border on a daily basis or if you’re required to enter the country for work or health-related reasons for a maximum of five days. A negative virus test is not considered a reason to skip the mandatory quarantine period.
Rules and regulations may differ depending on the canton. It is recommended that travelers who planned an upcoming trip to Switzerland consult the official website of the canton in question.
