When the man spotted the police officers, he tried to flee but was apprehended after a short chase.
The suspected drug dealer was then taken to the police station, where the authorities seized 57 plastic bags containing a total of 300 grams of cannabis. The man was also carrying five mobile phones and €707 in cash. It later transpired that he had disposed of 16 cocaine pellets and a further 22 grams of cannabis during his attempted escape.
The man was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office and appeared before an examining magistrate on Tuesday.
