Officers arrested the man as he attempted to flee Mersch by train at around 7.45am on Saturday.
Shortly before the arrest, the suspect had broke into a nearby house, where he was surprised by the residents. Police immediately mounted a search.
A ticket inspector alerted officers to the fact a man matching the suspect’s description had attempted to board a train at Mersch station. The police were able to catch up with the suspect and take him into custody before the train departed.
