Citing both personal health and institutional challenges, Susanna van Tonder stepped down from her leadership role at Luxembourg’s equality watchdog, the Centre for Equal Treatment.

Susanna van Tonder has resigned as president of the Centre for Equal Treatment (CET), citing health reasons and unspecified institutional dysfunction. The announcement came during an interview with Radio 100,7 on Wednesday.

Van Tonder declined to elaborate on the nature of the organisational issues at the CET, which is tasked with combating discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or age.

In 2023, Van Tonder ran as a Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) candidate in the legislative elections.
