
At the moment, winemakers are focusing on the grapes intended for sparkling wine, with good quality expected from this year's harvest due to the weather conditions over the past months.
A lot of workers are needed during this period to support the local staff, meaning that every year, seasonal labour is hired from abroad to help complete the task. Nevertheless, a few coronavirus adaptations still had to be made.
Winegrower Ern Schumacher, president of the Independent Winegrowers, said he was expecting 10 workers from Poland this Friday, who will be tested immediately upon arrival.
Vinsmoselle, for their part, often rely on cross-border commuters from nearby areas. Here, too, special protective measures have been put in place. Both the independent winegrowers and Vinsmoselle expect to have harvested most of the grapes by October 10th.
