The German “Bundespolizei” are seeking witnesses after a high-speed car chase which ended in Luxembourg on Thursday night.
A police patrol attempted to flag down a black Volkswagen Golf with Luxembourgish plates on German motorway 64, between 12.07am and 12.35am. However, the driver ignored their signals to stop and instead opted to speed off towards the Luxembourg border at over 160 km/h. Several police cars took off in hot pursuit.
Luxembourgish officers were able to stop the car in Niederanven, where they took the passenger into custody. The driver and a third occupant of the vehicle are said to have fled, according to Trier police.
The Grand Ducal police are collaborating with their German counterparts in investigating the matter. Further details have yet to be made public.
