Quite the puzzling photo has been circulating on social media since Tuesday afternoon. The image in question shows a speed camera hidden below a political placard of the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR), fuelling questions about both location and the legality of this installation.
Contacted by RTL, the man who shared the photo disclosed over the phone that he was flashed himself. The speed camera was positioned behind the roundabout in Bous towards Remich for approximately two hours on Tuesday afternoon. It was also this motorist who raised the question of whether the installation is legal. Our colleagues from RTL thus sent an enquiry to the authorities, but no response was received from the police press office by late afternoon.
However, a police officer and a legal expert clarified that mobile radars can indeed be deployed in such locations. These devices are typically used in areas prone to speeding and frequent accidents, known as “black spots” in police circles. The stretch between Bous and Remich was identified as one such area, according to our sources.
ADR President Alexandra Schoos did not take any offence about the news, indicating that if the police deemed the location appropriate for speed cameras, then the party would not stand in their way.
