Originally, SNCF had announced that a train strike would take place on Monday, 20 January. The strike would affect the Nancy-Metz-Thionville-Luxembourg TER line. Luckily commuters and travellers can now expect traffic as normal, as the strike has been called off in a post from SNCF on X.

Negotiations have been resolved. Staff had demanded an increase in the €100 allowance given to drivers when they cross the French border. This allowance had not been increased in 2025 which led to the strike. SNCF has agreed to add €30 to the sum.

“We have obtained a doubling of the bonus of €7.50 per day when they (French train divers) drive in Luxembourg. These bonuses are permanent over the next two years, despite the drastic cost-cutting measures to be implemented by the Region and the SNCF,” stated FGAAC-CFDT union delegate Eric Vasseur.
