Regulations in this area of housing are few and far between at present, which could create issues. However, a new project presented in Soleuvre hopes to improve the housing market.
The house sold for €861,783 at the end of December, purchased by the LIFE association. The association will invest another million euros to transform the house into seven separate living units over the next 18-24 months, with a view to renting them out at just €300 per month.
Seven young people aged between 18 and 26 will have the opportunity to live in the building. However, there is a problem in the case of shared accommodation: roommates are often considered to be a collective household which can have consequences for social security contributions.
LIFE's Gary Diderich said that they would work on a solution in collaboration with the town of Soleuvre so that future residents of the complex will be able to register individually with the municipal administration.
As for the building, work should start shortly and the first beneficiaries should be able to invest in the premises at the latest in two years.
