The Grand Ducal police took several individuals into custody overnight for various alcohol-related infractions, including aggression and disturbing the peace.

According to the latest police report, several people were deemed to represent a risk to themselves and others, and were therefore taken into custody overnight to sober up.

Among these individuals were two men involved in a physical altercation at Esch-sur-Alzette station on Thursday afternoon. Although police officers arrived at the scene once the fight had ended, one of the men, openly intoxicated, refused to cooperate with police and became aggressive when confronted.

In Luxembourg City, another person drew police attention for harassing passersby and shouting loudly in the area around the main train station. He refused to calm down when approached by police, swearing at officers, and was duly taken into custody.

Elsewhere, other intoxicated individuals were stopped by police for driving under the influence. In Bergem a drunken motorist crashed into three parked cars and was consequently taken to hospital for a check-up, accompanied by police. He had his licence confiscated as a result.

In Echternach, a police patrol confiscated a second licence from a motorist who drove across a traffic island while under the influence at 1.30am on Friday.
