The Votum Klima collective, which includes organisations such as CELL, Greenpeace and 'Natur an Ëmwelt', organised the third World Earth Day march in Luxembourg City this Wednesday. This year's march was held under the global motto "Our Power, Our Planet" and took place amid music and a convivial atmosphere, from the capital's rail station to the Chamber of Deputies.
Organisers declared themselves satisfied with the event's turnout, as CELL's Norry Schneider confirmed. The number of participants has increased year on year, even though it is hard to determine an exact figure. "I honestly am not sure how many turned out, we estimated around 500 to 600 people. Every person counts. The more of us, the better, but even if we had to march on our own, we'd still do it."

Among the crowd were many children and young people, as adults acknowledged they could not leave them with all the responsibility, as adults of today have much they need to straighten out. As Norry Schneider said:
"We have lots of work to do. The scientific reports say it's not 5 to 12, but a bit later now, yet there is still hope as long as people keep committing to the work. It's not always immediately visibile. Right now there is a lot of media noise about people who shout loudly and aggressively, but there are people who work for a better world every day. Protecting the environment, human rights, against poverty, for solidarity, and it's important we acknowledge these people." Not just for World Earth Day, but every day.
