In light of this confusion, Environment Minister Serge Wilmes emphasises the subsidy system will remain at least until 30 July, if not longer:
“The conditions remain the same, except that there is now also an extension of three months. It was actually supposed to expire on 31 March, but it won’t. Now it has been extended to 30 June, and the government is working in parallel to simply adopt the subsidies system completely. An official discussion is yet to take place around how to introduce this measure in the fairest manner. Either way, we guarantee that we will keep the subsidy system, but how exactly we will adapt it remains unclear. The message is very clear: we do not want to get rid of the subsidy system.”
In order to extend the date, the Grand Ducal regulations must be amended, but these are still with the Council of State and have therefore not yet been published. Nonetheless, Serge Wilmes has emphasised that there is no need to worry given they also apply retroactively.
