26 SeptemberSelected schoolchildren may ask for a day off during papal visit to Luxembourg

RTL Today
Pope Francis is due to visit the Grand Duchy in a fortnight, and some pupils may request a day off school in order to participate in the visit.

The official visit will take place on 26 September, with the Pope meeting a number of Luxembourg Catholics. Interested visitors were asked to register in order to participate, although spaces for the mass filled up quickly.

The visit includes a service at Notre Dame cathedral in the capital, with a marquee to be erected in the cathedral courtyard.

Schoolchildren who are eligible to participate in an official event to see the Pope may receive special dispensation to have a day off school in order to do so. Parents may request a full or partial day off school for their children, provided they have completed the necessary forms.

RTL will accompany the Pope throughout his visit on 26 September in order to supply a live broadcast of the day’s highlights.

An earlier version of this article did not specify that only pupils who are registered for the official events may request time off school.
