DiekirchSecondary school makes masks compulsory in classrooms

RTL Today
Pupils at the Lycée Classique de Diekirch and their parents were notified of the new policy in an email on Friday.

School director Marcel Kramer said students and staff would have to wear masks in classrooms until term ends on 14 July. Currently, government guidelines state masks must be worn in hallways on school premises and on school transport, but they are not mandatory in the classroom.

The new policy is due to the rise in Covid-19 infections in Luxembourg, said Kramer. He described it as an effective measure to protect against the virus when paired with hygiene regulations.

According to RTL sources, Diekirch Lycée is not the only secondary school to officially adopt stricter measures than those applied by the Ministry of Education. Other schools are expected to adopt similar regulations in the last weeks of the term.
