The news that works have commended on installing the average speed camera on the N11 has certainly gone through the country, but there has not been much more information beyond that. On Wednesday morning, our colleagues at RTL 5Minutes were surprised to see two fixed speed cameras at the Gonderange exit, as many other motorists likely were.

Not long after, our colleagues put the pieces together, realising that the second radar tower was indeed installed on the route between Gonderange and Waldhof, where the infamous average speed camera will be based. The ACL then confirmed that this is indeed one of the speed cameras meant for the average speed camera, which, as it turns out, will not look like the below type of speed camera.

The ACL also confirmed that the authorities are in the process of installing a second speed camera in Waldhof. In total, there will be three speed cameras on the N11, two of which will calculate motorists' average speed. The other will continue to measure speeds at the exit to Gonderange.

Even if the second speed camera is installed over the next few days, the average speed camera will only be operational as of the end of 2019 or beginning of 2020. The construction site installing the new speed camera is due to end of 12 July.
