The pair of scammers rang the bell of a house on Rue Wurth-Paquet at 5pm on Saturday. The men told the resident that while undertaking repairs on the roof of the neighbouring building, they spotted that this roof was also lacking a few tiles, which they then offered to replace for €20.
The resident did not have any cash and ended up offering confidential information about their bank details, which both individuals later used to withdraw large amounts of cash.
The fraudsters have been described as follows: both about 175cm tall and of slim stature, short black hair, and a Mediterranean skin tone. They wore dark clothes and had paint stains on their trousers. Both spoke French.
