
On the evening of 23 January, a resident of Esch-sur-Alzette reported being targeted by fraudsters. The victim was contacted by someone claiming to be a bank employee, who gained their trust and convinced them to share LuxTrust details and bank card information. The scam escalated when a courier arrived at the victim’s home to collect the bank cards.
Following an investigation, two suspects were identified. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, searches were carried out at their residences, yielding incriminating evidence. Both suspects were subsequently arrested.
The police have issued a reminder to the public that legitimate institutions, administrations, and companies will never request personal or financial information over the phone or ask you to hand them over to strangers.
In an unrelated case, police arrested a suspect following a burglary in Junglinster on the night of 29 January. Officers responded swiftly after receiving a report of a break-in at a house. During a manhunt near Rue de la Montagne, the suspect was apprehended.
Further investigations revealed that a vehicle parked outside the house had also been ransacked. The stolen items were recovered and confiscated. The suspect was arrested and brought before a judge on the morning of 29 January.
