Hayley Allam brings humour and empathy to her new podcast Mom Life in Luxembourg, where guests discuss the high points and hurdles of raising children as expats in a new country.

To expat parents out there – this is for you!

If you have moved to the Grand Duchy from abroad and are trying to find your feet then Today Radio’s brand-new podcast series Mom Life in Luxembourg is something you are not going to want to miss.

Part of RTL Today’s Family Matters section and hosted by vivacious expat Hayley Allam, Mom Life in Luxembourg will explore, with humour and empathy, everyday topics and issues that resonate closely with expat families.

The exciting series will discuss those niggling questions and common challenges you have as a newcomer to Luxembourg as well as celebrating all that is great about being an expat in this dynamic little country.

From crèches to crémant, Hayley’s guests are parents from all walks of life opening up about the high points and pitfalls of being an expat with kids and adjusting to life in Luxembourg.

And Hayley herself knows plenty about navigating change. The former global media director, who also hosted a podcast in her native California, describes how she felt after moving here as a ‘trailing spouse’ with her husband and three sons.

She mentions that the inspiration for the podcast came from when she first arrived in Luxembourg. Even after being here for two years, she still feels as though she just got here.

She adds that the podcast series will unpick the shared experiences that expats with kids who are juggling jam packed schedules will identify with.

“I think that all expat parents go through this unique set of challenges of having uprooted yourself and your children. Maybe your relationship has stresses on it or you don’t know what to do about the school situation. And if you are a trailing spouse that’s a whole other area.”

“And then there’s your own personal identity. A lot of people on my show did something [professionally] and then had kids and then found out that their job was not working any more for them. Then they moved here and had to pivot again,” Hayley explains.

The first episode entitled Navigating Life Changes will feature the much-loved Today Radio host and mother-of-two Lisa Burke and will broadcast on Friday, 11 October exclusively on Today Radio and every Friday thereafter.

Hayley and Lisa explore how they responded to life’s changes and challenges, the need to reinvent yourself and ultimately striving to live your best life in Luxembourg.

And to get more of a flavour, some of the later episodes will be starting your own business; being motivated to work out when it is cold, building your own community, what’s on for Halloween and Luxembourg’s other winter holidays, English language school options, body positivity in children as well as fostering creativity in kids.

Be sure to tune in on Friday, 11 October and don’t forget to subscribe to Mom Life in Luxembourg wherever you get your podcasts. The podcast is also available on RTL Play.
