Redundancy planRTL Group's headquarters 'are and will remain in Luxembourg'

RTL Today
The trade unions OGBL and LCGB announced on Tuesday morning that they would conduct negotiations for a redundancy plan within RTL Group.

Both trade unions announced that RTL Group's headquarters in Luxembourg would be heavily reduced: 94 jobs are due to be cut, with 44 to be moved to the group's operations in Cologne.

The OGBL and LCGB criticised the conduct of the redundancy plan on the grounds of cost containment whilst RTL Group experienced record profits of more than €400 million during the first half of 2019.

The trade unions have also questioned how the group will maintain operations aside from simply having a mailing address in Luxembourg. They both criticised the lack of dialogue in the file.

In a press release responding to the trade unions, RTL Group detailed that the group's management has invited employee delegations and syndicates to begin negotiations from 14 October 2019 onwards. The group confirmed that the number of individuals working for the RTL Group Corporate Centre would be cut from 192 to 142. 44 of those employees will move to Cologne, with the remaining 98 staying in Luxembourg. As per the press release, RTL Group's headquarters are and will remain in Luxembourg.

The press release further highlighted that negotiations should occur swiftly to provide those affected employees with certainty about their futures.
