RTL Group reaffirmed its commitment to funding research into childhood cancer and leukaemia by hosting the 19th edition of its Télévie Challenge on Friday, 28 March 2025. Since its launch in 2005, this signature charity event has raised over €1 million for research. While the pandemic forced cancellations in 2020 and 2021, RTL Group still contributed €55,000 to support research efforts during those years.
A total of 23 teams comprising approximately 300 participants took turns cycling non-stop for 450 minutes at RTL City, aiming to cover as many kilometres as possible to generate donations. Corporate partners G-art, DHL Luxembourg, Travel Pro, and Post Luxembourg each pledged €5 for every kilometer cycled. The event also featured a charity sale of Télévie merchandise to encourage public donations.
The challenge attracted significant support from Luxembourg’s political and sports communities. Notable participants included politicians Claude Wiseler, Mars Di Bartolomeo, Léon Gloden, Max Hahn, Martine Deprez, Martine Hansen, Georges Mischo, Carole Hartmann, Ben Polidori, Sam Tanson, and Mandy Minella. The sports world was represented by cyclists Laurent and Lex Reichling, athletes Vera Hoffmann and Patrizia van der Weken, swimmers Julien Henx and Laurent Carnol, and former professional cyclist Laurent Didier.
The day’s main attraction was the VIP Bike session from 7pm to 7.30pm, featuring prominent personalities including Elmar Heggen (COO and Deputy CEO of RTL Group), Christophe Goossens (CEO RTL Luxembourg), Luc Marteling (Director of Information RTL Luxembourg), Georges Mischo (Minister of Sport and Minister of Labour), Laura Thorn (winner of LSC 2025 and Luxembourg’s Eurovision 2025 representative), and Diane Wunsch (Télévie Coordinator). This special segment was broadcast live on RTL Télé.
Télévie was established in Belgium in 1989 by the National Fund for Scientific Research to advance research into cancer, particularly childhood leukaemia. Luxembourg joined this important initiative in 2002, and since then, thousands have rallied behind the cause each year.
