Aviation ritualRetiring Cargolux pilot honoured with water salute at Findel Airport

RTL Today
In a time-honoured aviation tradition, emergency crews welcomed a Cargolux pilot's retirement flight with twin water arches over the tarmac Tuesday.

A Cargolux captain marked his professional retirement Tuesday afternoon with a ceremonial water salute at Luxembourg Airport.

Fire brigade vehicles lined the tarmac to spray arching water cannons over flight CLX 384 as it arrived from Baku, Azerbaijan – a traditional sendoff for retiring pilots.

The aircraft (registration LX-VCD) touched down under clear skies, concluding the unnamed captain’s final shift.

Due to privacy regulations, neither the airline nor authorities disclosed the veteran pilot’s identity.
