The incident occurred on the A1 in the direction of Trier, between the Howald tunnel and the Irrgarten roundabout, shortly before 8:00 am, according to the authorities.
So far we know that only one vehicle was involved and that one person was injured, likely the driver.
Two fire service vehicles, an ambulance, and the rescue helicopter responded to the scene.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
