Police managed to locate the vehicle in question, which had lost a tyre and was running on a rim. The driver, who had obviously had too much to drink, took off just after hitting a parked car. He lost a tyre on impact, but this did not prevent him from continuing on his way.
The driver's breathalyser test came back positive during the check. Officers also discovered that his licence had been confiscated on multiple occasions in the past, and that he was still subject to a driving prohibition at the time of the incident.
The driver was arrested, and the vehicle seized by order of the state prosecutor.
Another similar incident involving a drunk driver also took place in Contern on Friday evening around 8 pm. The driver in this case lost control of his vehicle, which rolled over several times. He was taken to hospital for first aid, and had his licence was revoked after he tested positive for alcohol.
