The prosecutor's office told RTL they had recommended charges of attempted murder, assault and battery against police officers, rebellion and other infractions against the Highway Code to the investigating judge. They also requested the two people responsible be held in custody for these charges, after a high speed police chase which ended in shots being fired.
The driver, who is currently in hospital, and the female passenger are set to come before the investigating judge on Wednesday. The man was brought to hospital after he was injured in the chase on Tuesday and has been kept under watch by police.
The investigating judge will decide if both defendants are to be held in custody or not. It is not yet clear why the couple chose to evade police.
An administrative enquiry has also been opened to ensure that the police officer who fired shots did not misuse their weapon.
