
On Thursday evening around 8.20pm, a fire broke out at Uerschterhaff Prison in Sanem.
According to the penitentiary administration, the fire was quickly brought under control by staff.
It was further reported that none of the inmates were injured. Only one officer was hurt during the response. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was shortly thereafter released.
In addition to the prison management, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) and the police were on site. The Ombudsman was also informed as an external overseer of the prison.
