
Last month, prices increased by 0.8%, according to the statistics institute. “Inflation excluding petroleum goods is mostly due to a 1% increase in service prices in a single month, owing to the indexation of salaries on 1 April,” STATEC explains.
This is the case with the prices of retirement and nursing homes, which have increased by 2%. Restaurants (+1.2%) and house insurance (+2.4%) are also up. The same applies to maintenance and car repair services. The prices for medical care services have also increased.
The prices of food products have gone up by 1.3%. In particular meat (+2.4%), fresh vegetables (+3.7%), dairy products, cheese and eggs (+1.2%) as well as fats and oils (+1.4%) have become more expensive.
On the other hand, rice (-1.1%), fresh seafood (-1.6%) and coffee (-1.3%) saw their prices decrease.
The price of interior furniture increased by 1.5% in April, while diesel prices saw a 1.2% price increase. Heating oil also became more expensive (+5.5%) but petrol remained stable.
The Easter holidays caused an (expected) rise in air fares (+31.4%) and travel prices (+10.8%).
