Temperatures are ruled out from being responsible for the power failure, experts say.
A circuit breaker exploded and may have caused the outage. Alternatively, a fire was also reported on Rue du Canal — yet the exact cause of the electrical failure has not been determined, which lasted four hours and affected 1,300 homes.
"Each time we turn on something, something goes off somewhere else," Esch Mayor Georges Mischo had told RTL.
In the time period, drinking water was unavailable at a nearby campsite and hotel. The electrical failture prevented the water pumps from delivering water to the top of the hill - this has now been solved.
